Paneru and Manandhar felicitated

Women and Sport Commission of NOC organized a Felicitation and Panel Discussion program in NOC Building to celebrate the 109th International Women’s Day.

In the program the Chief Guest President of NOC/Member of Parliament Jeevan Ram Shrestha felicitated Lalita Paneru and Rajdevi Manandhar with a Plague and Rs. 25,000 cash for their contribution towards sports.

Paneru is the oldest working employee of National Sport Council and Manandhar is a legendary female badminton player who joined badminton from 2028 BS.

Chief Guest Shrestha said that even in the 21st century there are still some disregards towards women but this is changing drastically as women empowerment is also a part of UN Millennium Development Goal till 2030. He also thanked the President of Women and Sport Commission Jyoti Rana and all the members.

On the second session there was a panel discussion about practice of Menstrual Hut in Far Western Region of Nepal. Raju Ghising, Binita Adhikari, Yesodhara Panta and Raj Kumari Ojha were the speakers in the program where Athletes of Far western Region participated.
